Reiki.. the healing touch

Reiki treatmentWhat is Reiki?

Reiki is a simple, safe and natural method of healing. It is a Japanese word meaning "spiritually guided universal life energy". This vital life energy flows through all living things and can be activated for the purpose of healing.

How does it work?

The Reiki Therapist channels this healing life energy through his or her hands to the recipient; activating the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Reiki energy goes to the deeper levels of a person’s being, where many illnesses originate; and works wherever the person needs it most, releasing blocked energies and working to create a state of balance, physically, emotionally and mentally.

The treatment

Reiki is a very simple but very powerful process. A treatment usually takes one hour, and is carried out with the recipient, fully clothed lying on a treatment table.

The therapist places his or her hands in a series of positions over the whole body. Each position is held for 3-5 minutes.

There is no pressure, making this gentle treatment ideal for the elderly or very young, pregnancy or those recovering from recent surgery.

The whole body is treated, not just a problem area, and the healing energy will go right to the source of the imbalance to correct it at a very deep level.

What you will feel

You will generally feel a sense of warmth or tingling in the area being treated which grows into a deep sense of well being. Stress and tension are released and you will feel very peaceful and relaxed.

What can Reiki treat?

Reiki may help many conditions, mental and physical.

Can it do harm?

Reiki is a completely safe, natural and holistic way of treating disease. It will complement and increase the effectiveness of most kinds of medication and treatment.

It reinforces a person’s ability to take responsibility for their own life and helps them to make necessary changes in attitude and lifestyle to promote a happier and healthier life.

Reiki treatment from Linda Baker

I took training in Reiki with a Reiki Master from the Reiki Association in 1994, 1995 and 2006. I now hold first, second and third degree Reiki. I am registered with the British Complementary Medicine Association (BCMA) and also with the Practitioner Register for Holistic Therapies (PRHT).

I mostly work now with people with various disabilities, notably Multiple Sclerosis, but I also practice from my home treatment room. I will also do home visits on request.

The initial consultation lasts about an hour and a quarter, and costs £45. Subsequent treatments cost £40 for an hour (30 minutes: £22). Reduced fees can be negotiated. Home visits are charged at an extra £5. To book an appointment, please click here
